"Fantastic teacher! He knows how to get the best out of you on your music journey. In his class, you will always find the balance of the technical, the emotional and the artistic elements of playing cello. We like his lesson very much and also his cat!"

My pedagogical philosophy is rooted in guiding young musicians from their initial introduction to the instrument all the way to polished, high-level public performance. Since my beginnings as a music educator a decade ago, I have worked hard to offer a transformative approach to the instrument in order to propel my students toward technical mastery. Building a musician from the grassroots level to a stage-ready performer requires a meticulous, step-by-step instructional framework that always keeps long-term objectives in focus.
For all students, I employ a biomechanically grounded approach to the instrument. In the beginning and intermediate stages, I frequently employ the Suzuki method: Suzuki was the foundation of my own musical education at three years old, and I later rediscovered it through pedagogy classes at Vanderbilt University. For more seasoned string players, my methodology becomes more proprietary, integrating the time-honored étude lineage of Duport, Piatti, and Popper with historically informed performance practices and advanced bow mechanics. This translates into a curriculum strictly focused on tension-free physiology, offering students the freedom to express themselves musically without pain or distraction. By teaching students how to observe alignment, stability, and rotation, I’ve helped dozens of students produce a beautifully resonant tone for the first time without fear of repetitive strain injury. Once these physical foundations are established, I guide students to leverage their technical freedom as a vehicle for storytelling.
I believe that empowering students to make their own expressive choices and explore different sounds is what transforms them from careful technicians into confident, self-assured artists.
